Energiekulturruhr.de is a web portal of RWE, one of Europes biggest energy supplier, that showcased cultural activities of RWE during the year of European Capital of Culture Ruhrgebiet 2010.
BriefAt the beginning of 2009 Interone was asked to pitch for the cultural organisations website of RWE for the 2010 European Cultural Capital Ruhrgebiet. We were asked to come up with digital ideas to present their cultural program and the area of Ruhrgebiet to tourists from abroad and also visitors from Germany.
IdeaWe went into the game with this direction and were successfully assigned to design the website, which was an ongoing process of one and a half years. With the claim “Ruhrpott is a matter of heart” we won the hearts of the clients executives by designing a miniature piece of the area with all its icons and historical buildings including Zeche Zollverein, Westfalenstadion Dortmund and many others.
ExecutionThe island shows the borders of the Ruhrgebiet and was completely animated and created in 3D. We tried a couple of looks and finally decided on a playful miniature world style. The website offers quite a lot of features like a preparing your personal guided tour, saving images into your account, communicating in the forum or read posts on a day to day basis on the blog.
